Good Morning, Pancake!

On Tuesdays I usually make Avery pancakes before bringing him to daycare at 10. If he’s lucky, I sometimes add chocolate chips to them. (His FAVORITE) It’s my late day at work so it’s nice to spend the morning together before heading out since we won’t see each other for very long after work and before bedtime.  Often times, its’ the 3 of us on Tuesday morning but today it was just Avery & I.

I already knew I was going to make him chocolate chips pancakes so I started pulling ingredients out and seeing what I had for fruit to go along with the pancakes. Then, this happened…

Avery was upstairs finishing a cartoon so he was unaware what I was up to.

I have seen a similar pancake face using blueberries instead of chocolate chips. Avery would say that’s pancake blasphemy.

Surprise!

I can already tell that when Avery starts going to school, I’m going to be the crazy Mom who makes things out of his lunch sometimes. I can see it now.  He sits down with his friends, opens his lunch box in anticipation to see what’s in it and it’s like the world freezes and you can hear crickets. “What!? My sandwich looks like an owl!”
